About

A community shaped by people, place, and time.

Pelican Cove was built between 1975 and 1981 on 75 acres of bayfront land in the Vamo neighborhood of South Sarasota — west of the Tamiami Trail, with sailboat water at its doorstep.

The community spans six distinct neighborhoods of low-rise condominium buildings, woven through manicured tropical landscape and a canopy of mature live oaks. There are 731 residences in all, with floor plans from cozy one-bedrooms to spacious three-bedroom townhomes.

Pelican Cove has been recognized for both its landscaping and its superior management — but the most enduring distinction is cultural: a year-round calendar of clubs, classes, concerts, and gatherings entirely run by residents.

The land first

Buildings tuck under the trees, not over them. Stewardship of the canopy and waterfront comes before everything else.

Resident-run culture

More than 37 clubs, two art studios, a pottery classroom, jazz and classical concerts — all organized by neighbors.

Gracious management

A professional team and a live-in gatehouse keep the Cove safe, beautiful, and quietly functional, year after year.
